President Barack Obama's Inauguration
Kambani Arts was at the inauguration of Barack Obama from 16 - 21 January 2009 to say a big thank you to president Obama for providing the inspiration for the Campaign of HOPE. The experience was quite amazing. We were up close for Obama’s speech in Baltimore on 17 January. We were also at the “We are One” concert at Lincoln Memorial on 18th January, and witnessed the Martin Luther King day events on 19th January.
On inauguration day, we went all out for the campaign of Hope with volunteers engaging in a number of creative HOPE messages in and around the Mall. Although we planned to engage the crowd in creating a massive human message of HOPE in the Mall, we did not want to be viewed as milking publicity, so at the end of the day, we engageed volunteers in some wacky antics of HOPE for which we obtained some creative and rich footage. Some of this will be used for the documentary "Living the HOPE" whilst further material will be used to make the video for the soundtrack “Happy Hope”.
The entire programme of events was one that will remain etched firmly on the mind of anyone that was fortunate to attend. The chapters of tomorrow have begun from the turning of the pages of history in this life changing event, witnessed by the entire world on the grandest of stages. The Obamamania phenomenon has firmly taken hold in the American heartland and the future looks ever brighter in a world that needs to be shaken up more vigorously to bring about greater acceptance of cultural diversity. We hope that the journey that has started will fulfil the Campaign of HOPE’s mission to bring peoples and cultures of the world together in unity through change whilst instilling HOPE.
